(Chankanaab Beach Adventure Park)

(Punta Sur Eco Beach Park)

(San Gervasio)

(Museo de la Isla)

Our visit to Cozumel on the Royal Caribbean Explorer of the Seas was great. We took an open top bus excursion to downtown, a tequila brewery and a beach club.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cozumel – Incredible Experience from Start to Finish Cozumel is absolutely amazing. From the moment we landed at Cancún International Airport, the trip was smooth and memorable. We took the ADO bus (the red, professional coach buses) from the airport to Playa del Carmen—about a 1 hour 15-minute ride—and I highly recommend this over a taxi. It was clean, comfortable, and only about $15. Once in Playa del Carmen, don’t buy ferry tickets from street vendors. They’ll tell you the official booths are only for locals, but that’s not true. Go directly to the authorized ferry ticket stands—you can save 200–350 pesos per person. The ferry ride to Cozumel was stormy and choppy for us, but still beautiful. The catamaran-style boat was clean, modern, and well-run with excellent staff. When you arrive in Cozumel, head to the taxi stand at the end of the ferry pier. Fares are fixed—check the posted rate sheet and confirm it with your driver before leaving. Tips: Get pesos at the airport—paying in pesos is usually better. Prices on Cozumel are fairly comparable to the U.S., though you can still negotiate in some places. The island feels very safe, clean, and welcoming. We spent about 7 days total (including travel) and highly recommend: Exploring downtown Cozumel Renting a car (shop around—prices vary) Paying extra for insurance (~300 pesos)—worth the peace of mind We paid about 800 pesos for a 24-hour rental, which was a great deal. Driving to the east side of the island was a highlight. It’s more rugged and less developed, with stunning, pristine beaches, powerful surf (similar to the California coast), and crystal-clear blue water. You’ll see wildlife everywhere—especially iguanas—and even roadside stands selling fresh coconuts. We even came across a lagoon with a massive crocodile—one of the biggest I’ve ever seen. Unfortunately, we hit some storm conditions during our trip, which brought in a lot of seaweed and limited snorkeling. Still, it didn’t take away from how beautiful the island is. People & Atmosphere: The people in Cozumel are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Service everywhere we went was top-notch. Tattoo Recommendation: If you’re thinking about getting a tattoo, I highly recommend Sailor Ink Tattoo. Monkey, Abril, and their family run the shop—they are incredibly talented and professional. You can book in advance via Instagram with a small deposit (~$15). Pro tip: schedule your tattoo toward the end of your trip so it doesn’t interfere with swimming. Final Thoughts: Cozumel is one of those places that feels like a tropical paradise but still has a comfortable, familiar vibe. Even with some weather challenges, it was an unforgettable trip. Highly recommend visiting—this island is special.

Linda's honest travel review! Cozumel, a wonderful place to spend some relaxing times. A Mexican Island not really what Mexico is about. It is a protected place for wealthy Mexicans and international travelers as well as a major cruise hub for several Cruise Lines. The Island offers you from back pack traveler to 5 Star Resorts and everything in between. Diving, eating, shopping and entertainment. Secluded beaches and historical sites. Unfortunately, prices are relatively high for Mexico and some locals are happy to rip off tourists. Watch out for taxi fares or pricing in the downtown area. A beer could cost you $ 6! While a bit off the main track you can still find a cold blond for $ 1!

Cozumel is absolutely stunning!! So much to do and so much fun! Everyone is friendly! We ended up renting a jeep and drove all around the island and stopped at different locations along the way. Snorkeling, wave runners, massage, etc. 10/10 would definitely go back again!
