This market is so much fun! They have an incredible variety of everything you could think of, and it’s a fantastic spot for eating delicious local food or grabbing some really lovely drinks. Keep in mind that prices can sometimes be a bit higher when they see you are a tourist, but you can always try to bargain or negotiate a little. A lively, must-visit experience to get a true taste of local culture! 🛍️🌮✨

Local markets are the key to cooking in many parts of Mexico. Mercado Benito Juarez in Oaxaca City was buzzing with activity. The amount & different varieties of chile peppers for different dishes were simple amazing. Going to Mercados are one of my fav things to do. Eat local!🌶🌶

I found that coming here during holidays is a nice place to get yourself some photos as the city is decorated. I love the fact that the market is huge although some stands do get repetitive like your going to find at least 10 people selling keychains. If your going as a local its a nice place to walk around, easy to communicate with the other locals. If your going as a tourist I do recommend you to have some spatial awareness, in any country there will be people who will try and steal stuff from you.

This market is fantastic! I do have a call out but this is more my fault: the products sold here are more touristy than artisan. With that in mind, you can still find amazing gems and unique items. You have to leave the city center if you want original ceramics or textiles. But this market has just about everything! Clothing, pets, handbags, shoes, souvenirs, mezcal, mole, vegetables, carnicería, traditional dresses, instruments, crafts, accessories, and SO much more. I bought a few linen pants, traditional shirts as gifts, copal burners, woven sashes, and tiny mezcal bottles. You can definitely spend an afternoon getting lost in the market and having lunch (and snacks) along the way. Definitely must visit!! And don’t forget to bring efectivo!
