一座教堂，三层历史
现在看到的教堂并非一次建成，而是不同时代的建筑层层叠加的结果。
从简朴小堂到巴洛克教区
1683年，当地居民建起一座简陋的土坯石头小堂，如今已看不到原貌，但地基仍藏在现教堂中殿下。1709年至1712年间，小堂被重建成墨西哥巴洛克风格的教区教堂，拥有单座钟楼和朴素立面。部分侧墙和圣克利斯托学校（Santa Escuela de Cristo）保留至今。
自学成才的砌石匠与粉红立面
今天标志性的新哥特式立面建于1880年至1890年间，出自本地砌石匠塞费里诺·古铁雷斯（Zeferino Gutiérrez）之手。相传他并未受过正规建筑训练，而是从明信片上的欧洲哥特式大教堂获取灵感，用粉色砂岩砌出了层层收窄的尖塔和繁复的雕刻。这一改造彻底改变了教堂的面貌，也让它成为墨西哥罕见的新哥特式教堂范例。
内部看点与地下墓室
教堂内部比外观朴素得多，但值得慢慢走一圈。彩绘玻璃窗在上午阳光透入时色彩最饱满，主祭坛的雕刻和侧龛的宗教塑像值得细看。教堂地下墓室安放着墨西哥独立战争时期几位重要人物的遗骸，历史爱好者不要错过。入口处有捐赠箱，建议备些零钱。

想拍全景，主广场是首选，蓝天配粉教堂几乎不会失手。下午4点后光线转柔，是拍摄立面的好时段。想拍城市全景加教堂尖塔，可以上屋顶露台酒吧，比如Luna Rooftop Tapas Bar、Quince或La Azotea，点一杯鸡尾酒等日落。清晨和傍晚的金色光线洒在粉色石墙上，是出片率最高的时刻。
最佳季节与节庆
圣米格尔海拔约1910米，气候温和，10月至次年4月为干季，白天18至28摄氏度，夜晚凉爽，是游览和拍照的最佳窗口。3月蓝花楹盛开，11月初亡灵节气氛浓厚。若在9月最后一个周末到访，会赶上圣米格尔天使节（La Alborada），凌晨4点起数百枚烟花在教堂前点燃，全城沸腾，场面极为震撼，但住宿需提前数月预订。

Absolutely gorgeous! San Miguel is such a charming town. Everyone was so nice and most folks speak enough English that it was easy to communicate since I cannot speak Spanish.

Visiting Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel was an absolutely magical experience. The church is truly breathtaking, with its iconic pink neo Gothic towers rising dramatically above the heart of San Miguel de Allende. The architecture looks almost like something from a fairytale and immediately becomes the centerpiece of the entire city. Standing in front of the parish at sunset or at night when it is illuminated creates an unforgettable atmosphere. The surrounding plaza is lively, full of music, culture, and people enjoying the beauty of this historic place. Inside, the church feels peaceful and spiritual, perfectly complementing the grandeur of the exterior. Overall, a must visit landmark in Mexico majestic, romantic, and absolutely unforgettable.
We loved the Parroquia with its limestone spires and neo-Gothic facade. It is from 1714 although the facade was redesigned in 1880–1890 >> a UNESCO World Heritage site Do not go in to take photos during actual services, please. (Sony RX10 pics)
Beautiful parochia located right across from a public park, surrounded by plenty of vendors, cafés, and restaurants. The area is very welcoming and well set up for tourism. The parochia itself is stunning, with gorgeous architecture and clearly well maintained. One of the best parts is that it’s open to the public—you can actually go inside and attend church, rather than just viewing it from the outside. Being able to experience it up close makes the visit truly special. They also do an amazing job using the space for major events throughout the year. During holidays like Christmas and New Year’s, the area comes alive with music, lights, mariachis, and ceremonies, often with a stage set up in front. There are weddings, festive decorations with flowers and statues, and even large puppets that come out for photos. It’s truly a sight to see and a memorable experience. Highly recommended!
