Hacienda de Oro

Beautiful botanical garden, very well maintained and full of lush tropical plants. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant was excellent as well. A wonderful place to spend a few peaceful hours surrounded by nature.

Beautiful experience and spot to have breakfast/lunch! Food was great and such great service—very friendly. I had the chilaquiles, a classic, with both red and green sauces and it was some of the best I’ve had. My partner had an omelette tacos and enjoyed that. It rained while we were there which was still nice, so had it been nicer it would’ve been even better walking around and seeing all their beautiful plant life and birds they have living on property.

Very beautiful place! Hummingbirds, peacocks, parrots, and other tropical birds everywhere. The flowers are amazing. The staff is so friendly and the restaurant has great food and drinks. There is a taxi stand there that will take you anywhere and I heard a bus goes by but we didn’t take it(the cost for four of us wasn’t that much cheaper on the bus). We didn’t go on the Jaguar trail, but covered the rest of the park, including seeing the river, in about two hours and we had 70 year olds with us. The swinging bridge is very swingy, so be ready!

If I could give this experience more than five stars, I absolutely would. My visit to Vallarta Botanical Gardens was, without question, the most beautiful, magical day I’ve had in nearly four weeks of being in Puerto Vallarta. I’ll be honest, I almost didn’t book the tour. I’m not typically a “tour person.” I prefer exploring on my own, at my own pace, without feeling like I’m being guided step-by-step. But after a little research, I decided to take a chance and I am so grateful I did. From the very beginning, everything felt seamless and welcoming. I walked to the nearby pickup location and was warmly greeted by Juan, our driver, who made the entire 40-minute journey feel safe, smooth, and comfortable in the air-conditioned van. After one quick stop to pick up two other guests, we were on our way. Eduardo, our guide, was also with us and from the moment he introduced himself, I felt an instant, genuine connection. When I asked if he minded me taking photos and videos, he joked, “Only if you make me famous,” which perfectly set the tone for the day. His humor, warmth, and authenticity were truly something special. But what stood out most was how he described his role. He said he doesn’t consider himself a tour guide, instead, he’s an interpreter of Mother Nature. After 13 years at the gardens, he shared that every single day brings something new to discover. That perspective completely shifted the experience from a “tour” into something far more meaningful. As it turned out, the other two guests chose to explore on their own, so I had the incredible blessing of experiencing the gardens one-on-one with Eduardo. We moved at a natural, unhurried pace, and I truly felt like nature was putting on a private show just for us. The beauty, the energy, the surprises along the way… it’s something I can’t fully put into words. And then there was lunch! Absolutely beyond expectations. The restaurant at the gardens offers a full experience when booking a tour where you choose an appetizer, main course, and dessert. The portions were generous, the flavors incredible, and the entire meal felt like another highlight of the day. We were warmly taken care of by Judit, whose kindness and attentiveness made it even more enjoyable. Before leaving, I stopped by the gift shop and loved that everything available is handcrafted by local artisans from different regions of Mexico. It felt meaningful to bring a piece of that artistry home. I’ve visited many gardens in my travels as nature is truly one of my greatest joys, but the Vallarta Botanical Gardens are among the most exquisite I’ve ever experienced. If you’re considering going, don’t hesitate, just go. And if you have the opportunity, do yourself a favor and experience it with Eduardo. What you’ll gain is not just a tour, but a deeper connection to nature, to the moment, and to the magic that surrounds you. Every peso spent was worth it and then some.

Beautifully maintained and so interesting. Wandered for hours and we so enjoyed a delicious meal on site. Fairly easy trails and pathways to navigate. Bring bug spray or buy there. No cell service so get Pesos from bank or ATM prior to arriving. Taxi service available though timing is uncertain. Uber down from points in PV. Jan 21 visit. Wonderful gift shop.
