Beautiful temples in the heart of the jungle. There is a little shop “palapa” that makes tacos on your left just before getting into the temples entry and the tacos were delicious!

One of the best archeological sites in Mexico From ADO station you can take collectivos to the site for about 25MXN, or you can take a taxi who will be waiting for you while you purchase a ticket at the 1st counter. They take credit cards and cash.

I have to say that I was pretty disappointed with the entire experience of visiting this archaeological site. At the beginning if you arrive in your own vehicle they require you to park in a parking lot that is about 2 to 3 km away. That isn't a problem but it is only the beginning of how they add fee a top fee to your entrance. After you have parked your vehicle you have to walk through a army of tour guides who are quite insistent in trying to sell you a tour and try to convince you that there will be no two eruptions up at the side and that there's much that you're going to miss and it's you there are parts of the park that you won't be able to go through all of which at the end we discovered was pretty much untrue. After you get through the guides you walk through an area that is meant to be full of souvenir vendors and such but it was mostly empty it was easily at 200 to 300 m walk before you get to the ticket booths. There are actually two windows that you must go to to pay for entrance tickets and they are each required to get onto the archaeological site. So you have to stand in two lines to pay for entrance fees and parking fees and you have to keep track of tickets from both of those and wristbands from both of those places. Next you have to pay 60 pesos per person for transportation from where the ticket booths are to the entrance to the archaeological site. So in the end you have three wristbands and two sets of tickets. Once you arrive at the entrance to the actual archaeological site you passed through a metal detector and again present your tickets. Then there is a whole section where again you must navigate through various vendors and tour guides trying to sell you their wares. When you actually arrive onto the archaeological site it is very interesting and and amazing to look at but it is by no means among the best that I have seen in Mexico. This is not a site that I would travel to again.

A must-visit historic archaeological site. Climbing the highest steps brought me closer to the amazing Maya era. We visited without a tour and loved the experience. Entry for expats is double the local price; while I’m happy to pay, this kind of pricing isn’t great for tourism. Still, I highly recommend visiting — you’ll love it.

Went in April ‘26, this archeological site is definitely worth visiting!!! You can buy tickets there, no need to buy in advance or book online.
