Visiting Palacio de Bellas Artes was an absolutely wonderful experience! The iconic white marble exterior with its golden-orange dome is breathtaking, making it one of the most magnificent landmarks in Mexico City. Inside, the blend of Neoclassical and Art Deco architecture is stunning. Exploring the upper levels to view the world-famous murals by Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros, and José Clemente Orozco is truly unforgettable. The atmosphere surrounding Alameda Central park makes the entire visit memorable. A must-see destination for anyone visiting Mexico City.

Absolutely a must stop when visiting Mexico City. The building is breathtaking. Beautiful architecture, the inside has an older vibe, with great details from the Mexican history. Very famous murals on the inside. The theater has the only Tiffany and Co. door stage worldwide made out of coloured crystals. You can get there in the Metro and is right in the center where you can walk to another places like the Postal Building, Casa de Azulejos and such.

I visited the Palacio de Bellas Artes on the day of the Mexico City Marathon, which made an already impressive landmark even more memorable. The streets around the building were packed with runners, spectators, volunteers, and people exploring the historic center, so there was an incredible amount of energy surrounding the palace. The building itself is absolutely spectacular. Pictures really don’t convey how imposing it feels in person. The white stone exterior is incredibly ornate, with huge columns, sculptures, carved details, arches, and decorative work everywhere you look. Then you have the massive orange-and-gold tiled dome above everything, which makes the building instantly recognizable from several blocks away. Walking around it and seeing it from different angles was one of the highlights of my time in central Mexico City. One thing I particularly enjoyed was getting close enough to appreciate the details that disappear in wider photographs. There are large sculptural groups integrated into the exterior, enormous marble columns, decorative figures, and an incredible amount of craftsmanship throughout the façade. I also saw an architectural model of the Palacio that gives you a much better idea of the building’s overall shape and just how elaborate the entire complex really is. Visiting during the marathon was definitely unusual. At times there were runners passing directly in front of the building and large crowds gathered along the route. That obviously made the area much busier than it would be on a normal day, but I actually enjoyed it. Seeing this enormous historic building serving as the backdrop for such a major modern event was a pretty incredible Mexico City experience. The combination of the architecture, crowds, music, runners, and activity made the entire area feel alive. It is also one of those places where you should walk all the way around rather than just taking one picture from the front. The perspective changes dramatically depending on where you stand, and some of my favorite views were actually from the sides. The gardens and public spaces around the building also create some excellent viewpoints. The location makes it extremely easy to incorporate into a walking tour of the historic center. Alameda Central is immediately nearby, and from here you can continue toward the Palacio Postal, the Zócalo, Metropolitan Cathedral, and numerous other historic sites without needing a vehicle. Even if you aren’t particularly interested in museums or performing arts, I would still recommend coming here simply to see the architecture. It is one of those buildings that feels representative of Mexico City itself—grand, ornate, historic, artistic, and surrounded by constant activity. I would definitely return, preferably on a quieter day when I could spend even more time exploring the interior and examining the architecture without the marathon crowds

I attended the Ballet Folklórico de México here. Months later, I can’t get the Ballet or this beautiful place out of my head. The building is stunning, rich with art & history… simply amazing, but the Ballet! I was so moved. There is nothing like it. I haven’t found another performance, including any opera that could even compare to this. I felt everything—in my soul. The audience, all of us collectively felt it. The energy in that hall, emanating from the stage was like nothing I’ve ever experienced. When I left, I was changed. I walked out into the square where there were hundreds of people full of this same energy all bustling about. I returned after exploring the area for better photos & I felt that energy when I approached the building. I think it’s a magical place. When I stumble across fellow travelers & exchange notes, I tell them, “you should go now. It’s not just memorable—it’s intoxicating.”

Just wow! What an incredible work of architecture. And the murals inside provoke such intense thoughts and emotions. It really is a grand site to behold. I went on a weekday so it wasnt very crowded. Definitely a must see for anyone visiting CDMX.
