This was directly across the street from my hotel. It’s amazing to see these structures still standing and the wildlife around them. It’s 145 pesos to walk around.

We had time to kill so went to check it out. Thought it was a tad expensive for the size of it and the short time you would spend looking around. Was okay, but wouldn't take take time out of my day to go see it.

Looking for a quick trip to see Mayan ruins while staying in Cancun, but aren’t up to making the trek out to Tulum or Chichen Itza? If yes, then try checking out the El Rey archaeological ruins, an important Mayan site which centered itself on fishing and small trade. Located in the southern half of the hotel zone, the small site is perfect for a quick 30 minute visit. The best time of the day for visiting is early in the morning while the sun, heat and mosquitoes are at a minimal. The grounds around the ruins are very flat and are easy to navigate with signs explaining the history of the ruins in both Spanish and English. They do accept USD at the entrance if you don’t have Mexican Pesos on hand. While walking around be sure to check out the many iguanas who are out sunning themselves on the rocks. While not as big as Tulum or Chicken Itza, exploring the El Rey site makes for a fun activity to do with the family while on vacation.

Easy to access with the city buses. The entrance fee is 145 pesos, not $3 as google maps suggests. It was nice but there is not much information. There is no shade so be prepared.
