贝宁维达(Ouidah)的不归之门(La Porte Du Non Retour)矗立在几内亚湾的金色沙滩上,这里曾是跨大西洋奴隶贸易在西非最重要的出口之一。这座拱门不仅是一处历史遗迹,更是数百万非洲人离开故土、走向未知的最后见证。从科托努(Cotonou)驱车向西行驶约40公里就能到达这座宁静却带有悲剧色彩的小城。
从科托努前往维达最便捷的方式是租用私家车,单程大约需要1小时左右。如果不怕挤,可以去科托努的联络车站(Jonquet)寻找前往维达的丛林出租车(Bush Taxi),这种拼车方式非常便宜,几千西非法郎就能搞定,但必须等车坐满才发车,且车内空间极其狭窄。
到了维达市区之后,建议雇一辆摩托车(Zemidjan)前往奴隶之路的起点。维达市中心到海边的纪念碑还有一段距离,走路在烈日下会非常吃力。路况主要是红土路,干燥季节尘土很大,建议随身带个口罩或头巾。
整条奴隶之路(Route des Esclaves)全长约4公里,从旧拍卖广场开始,一直延伸到海边。沿途分布着数个重要的遗迹点,包括让奴隶绕行以忘却家乡的遗忘之树,以及关押奴隶的黑暗地窖遗址。步行走完这段路大约需要一个半到两小时,这是理解不归之门历史分量的最好方式。
现在看到的不归之门是1992年由建筑师福图内·班代拉(Fortuné Bandeira)设计落成的。这座巨大的混凝土拱门两侧刻有成排的被铁链锁住的浮雕。当清晨或傍晚的阳光斜射在拱门上时,海浪声和海风交织在一起,那种历史的沉重感会瞬间扑面而来。1996年这里被列入联合国教科文组织世界遗产预备名单。
虽然参观拱门本身不需要门票,但强烈建议在奴隶之路起点处的博物馆聘请一位认证向导。向导的讲解费通常在5000到10000西非法郎之间,价格取决于人数。如果没有向导解释那些树木和石碑背后的含义,这段路在游客眼中可能只是普通的乡间小道。每年的11月到次年2月是这里的旱季,天气晴朗,是最适合游览的时间。
维达是西非沃杜恩教(Voodoo)的中心,每年的1月10日是著名的沃杜恩节。如果你正好在这个时间点到访,会看到极具震撼力的祭祀仪式和传统舞蹈。不过在平日里,路边有些神龛或祭祀场所是不允许拍照的,动手按快门前务必先询问当地人的意见。这里的人对镜头比较敏感,随手拍人是非常不礼貌的行为。
不归之门这座建筑本身位于公共海滩边,是不收取门票的。但如果你想进入维达历史博物馆(位于葡萄牙堡垒内)或者聘请专业向导讲解整条奴隶之路,则需要支付相应费用,建议预算准备10000西非法郎以备各项杂费。
完全足够。大多数游客会选择早晨八点左右从科托努出发,花半天时间走完奴隶之路并参观不归之门,中午在海边的餐馆吃顿烤鱼,下午再去参观蟒蛇庙(Temple of Pythons),傍晚前就能返回科托努。
不归之门和奴隶之路沿线的室外纪念碑都可以自由拍照。但需要注意的是,附近的某些村落内部或者正在进行的宗教仪式严禁摄像。如果看到绑着红布或撒有棕榈油的祭坛,最好收起相机以示尊重。
不归之门周边的设施相对简陋。海滩边有几家提供简餐和饮料的小木屋,但卫生条件有限。建议自己带足瓶装水。如果需要稍微正式点的午餐,需要回到维达市区寻找餐馆。

fasugba joseph It means the point of no return in English, the name is making you shiver right? No need to fear slave trade has been abolished decades ago. The place is a historic sight to remind you of the tremendous agony and pain slaves went through during the slavery era, there are several monuments scattered around to take you back down memory lane but ofcourse with the right your guide which will be provided for you at the ministry at a very cheap price. Port Did Non Detour gave me an unforgettable experience.
