Hands down my favorite area out here!! Nobody was there and you could see miles and miles of dunes!

It may not be as well known as Deadvlei , but Hidden Vlei is quite special. Surrounded bye the orange Sand dunes with a couple of preserved trees emerging from the white, cracked and perfectly flat clay surface, it’s solitude and expanse are quietly mesmerising, and well worth the walk from the car park for Dead Vlei. An early start is best!

Other than a desert walk experience, hidden vlei doesn’t offer much in comparison to deadvlei. If you’re waiting for sunset it’s a nice walk to kill time.

As a warning, it is quite a long walk from where you park your vehicle, I didn't realise and got heatstroke walking there - don't do this at midday! It does vary according to seasons but is a large vlei that is majestic when you do reach it although I felt slightly disappointed since I was expecting a bigger area but still do it!
