  The island is very beautiful, keeping a local vibe and some very comfortable and developed amenities. The main city, Mindelo has some nice bars, mainly with live music, a good place to swim, very good restaurants and the port that gives connections with Sao Antao and Sao Nicolau. The markets are nice to go to in the morning and taxi is really cheap ( 2 eur/ ride). Be aware of pickpocketing and possible theft threats by night ( it never happened to me but almost all locals advised to take the taxi bu night). Outside of Mindel, there are good spots for kite surfing, hiking and snorkeling with the turtles. Lastly, the yearly festival is lovely to go to and see how much of a cultural melting pot Cape Verde is.

  I love this island it has a well balance of the modern city and traditional Cape Verdean Culture. Mindelo is one the worlds best Cities to see Carnival.
